Like many of you, I want to (and because of the condition of my garage, have to) create my own custom garage.
And, probably like you, I want it to be as efficient, comfortable and adaptable to my family’s needs as possible – as well as just a fun place to hang out.

I want it to be a place to work in and work out in, to finish our smaller repair projects in, to watch a game in with my friends when we want to smoke cigars, be loud, and drink from a keg (things my wife won’t allow in the house), and to possibly fire up the garage band I used to play in before I got married and had children.
Oh, yeah – I want to be able to park our cars in it, too.
As a veteran of previous construction projects, I know how arduous renovations can be; needlessly expensive, time consuming, filled with too many blind alleys, bad starts, and poor vendors. I want to avoid all that this time, and still construct a space that has plenty of function, personality and value.
In other words, I want my custom garage to rock.
Should you choose to accept this mission, you’ll be accompanying me through the process of my grand design for my newly re-fabricated custom garage, as well as the motivation, preparation, and perspiration (since, like you, I’ll probably have to do much of the work myself).
You’ll know every step in my research and reasoning, see pictures of the products and services we select, and understand the other options you may have in constructing your own custom garage. You’ll also be provided with the links to each of the companies we consider so you can do your own research and maybe even get a good deal yourself.
I have to warn you – I don’t know enough about construction to fill a toolbox, but I do know a good deal when I see one. The best and most discounted goods and services will be shown, along with the ones we choose from. I have as much respect for your money as I have for mine, so no rip offs. Plus, this guarantees you'll be hitting the proverbial "easy button" when you use this site.

My motivation behind this project
Why do I want a custom garage? Why would any man want one?
If a man’s home is his castle, then what is a man’s garage? It is his cave, his lair, his fortress of solitude. The garage is the modern day sanctum sanctorum of masculinity – a place where he can always retreat from the over-feminized life many of us are forced into through our careers, our bosses, and our mothers-in-law.
In this time of gender-bending societal confusion, we are forced to say yes when we want to say no, to go slow when we want to speed up, and forced to smile when we want to tell someone where to stick it. We are called Neanderthals when we express our true feelings, even though we’re merely expressing our vision provided by ten million years of evolutionary process.
I’m not the type to join a twelve-step group about this, nor do I want to put on a loincloth and sit in a circle of guys crying and banging drums. But there is someplace I go to drink beer, punch a heavy bag, and listen to AC/DC if I want to, and I shouldn’t have to apologize for it. My custom garage will be close, comfortable, and a place where can do and be as I please in it.
Short of my own acreage and a log cabin in the forest, a custom garage is the best place for me to make my space.
